Munich/Berlin, 24 March 2014: High dynamics of e-commerce creates new challenges for logistics. This equally applies to a special segment of the overall logistics market – the intra-logistics segment consisting of storage, transport and order picking. Safety aspects, falling margins as well as the demographic development call for a significant increase in demand for automation as well as ergonomic work-stations in storages and distribution centers of the online-trade. Current examples show the trend for improved automation in intra-logistics. The extent of the commercial impact this might have as well as the level of acceptance of this option in the e-commerce-trade sector is yet to be determined. Fast development, flexibility pressure as well as the profitability of e-commerce-centers represent great challenges for traders as well as consultants.
TECHNOMAR, trilogIQa, Institut des Interaktiven Handels (IDIH) and Bundesverband des Deutschen Versandhandels (bvh) offer to conduct a study in which the current and future market for manual, partly-automated and automated intra-logistics-solutions in the cross-border-distance-trade business is researched with the aim of providing information to companies in the intra-logistics-sectors and online trading market related to the challenges, opportunities and risks.
